Girls Soccer Ties Undefeated St. Joes

By Sara Shaker - Girls soccer tied 4-4 against St. Joe’s yesterday (10/18). St. Joe’s was previously undefeated. Junior Vanessa Budd (pictured) scored a few minutes into the first half off a cross from junior Kristy Gilbert. St. Joe’s scored next but Darien came back quickly with two goals from sophomores Kelly Karczewski and Dillon Schoen. In the second half, Schoen scored another goal off a pass from sophomore Julia Black. St. Joe’s came back with three goals, one of which was a penalty kick. Although it was upsetting to some to have not come out with a win, the team is optimistic. “Coming off a rough week last week, our performance against St. Joes was really uplifting,” senior captain Marieke Bravo said. “They were 12-0 coming into this week, so to tie them was a really good feeling.” The team needs a lot of support for its game against Greenwich tomorrow (10/20) at home at 4PM.
