Volleyball holds off Staples

By Kate Fitzmaurice - Darien girls Volleyball held its own last night (10/3) against Staples High School. A close call, they played all five games. The scores were 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 26-28, 15-8. Darien won the first and third games, but gave away the second and fourth to Staples. Staples pushed Darien to it’s limit. It was the first time this season that the team was forced to play all five games. However, Darien pulled through and ended with another victory. “We definatly had our high points and low points in the game” junior Riley Sousa said.
Senior Katie Stueber aided the team with four blocks and multiple kills. Junior Kelly Kosnik and Senior Nina Preston also helped out both with amazing serves.
“But in the end we persevered, and were ready for any challenges in the future” Sousa said. Darien’s next game is tomorrow (10/5) away, against Fairfield Warde.
