Varsity Baseball Rolls Past Stamford

By Cord Fox

On Monday, April 24th, the Darien Blue Wave baseball team took on the Stamford Knights. This was a league game and both teams were looking for a much needed win. Casey Brown broke the ice in the third inning with a grand slam to put the Wave up 4-0. Stamford, however, would rally in the bottom half scoring three runs of their own to get them back in the game. Darien responded again, by scoring another four runs in the next inning to put them up 8-3. Justin Van de Graaf had a solid day on the mound only letting up three runs. Jackson Vaught and Peter Marren let up 2 runs between the both of them. Justin Jordan came in to relieve and shut down Stamford giving Darien a 9-5 win.

This was a good test to start the week as they now have to face two of the top teams in the FCIAC. They will play Wilton and Ridgefield on Wednesday and Friday respectively. Come out and support the Blue Wave baseball team.

Junior Justin Jordan smacks a single up the middle.
