Varsity boys golf team has been full of promise this year. As of this week the team stands with a record of 6-4-1. They are prime to make a run for the FCIAC title. “Coach is changing the line up to see who we compile to make the final FCIAC team” junior captain Sean Fahey said. (pictured right) Fahey went on to mention the team’s biggest win this year against Wilton and Danbury, two very strong teams that have become recent powerhouses in FCIAC golf. The team did suffer from a tough loss earlier this season to New Canaan, but since that match the team has been strongly rebuilding under strong leadership. When asked about the team as a whole Fahey commented, “If we have a solid five (players) and if were all on that day then we can win it.”
The team has also been helped by many new underclassmen that for the first time this year are contributing to the line up. “Andrew Winter is stepping up along with a few other good sophomores,” said Fahey, who also went on to comment that if certain players can play well and shoot low on tournament day then there is no reason they shouldn’t be able to take home the hardware.
